Frequently asked questions

Q. What can I expect with your window cleaning service?
A. We start our cleaning process by removing the screens and marking them. We hand wash both sides of your screens with a soft bristle brush using 100% biodegradable liquid soap and set aside to dry. We then open each window to wipe down the frames and sills. We scrub both sides of the glass with a soft strip washer and a concentrated solution that is 100% safe and biodegradable. We use a squeegee to remove the dirty water and towel dry the corners. To complete our deluxe cleaning process we reinstall the screens.

Q. How should the customer prepare for window cleaning service?
A. Breakables should moved away from the window area, blinds and drapes should either be taken down, drawn up or pulled aside. Be sure we can access the back yard, and if we are only cleaning the outside please remove the screens.

Q. What type of payment do you accept?
A. We prefer a personal check. We do accept Visa, MC or Discover via Google check out. Payment is due at job completion.

BLY SKY clean windows in Wheaton Illinois homeQ. Do I have to be home? How long will the window cleaning take?
A. At least the first time we clean, we prefer that someone is home in case we have any questions. Typically cleaning windows can take anywhere from 1 hour to 6 hours, it all depends on the size of the house and how many windows and when your last cleaning was. Also if you have any storms, screens or French style window that will add to the cleaning time.
If you are having your gutters cleaned you don’t necessarily have to be home for the gutter cleaning. If you are having your windows cleaned on the outside only you don’t necessarily have to be home for this either. As long as any storms and or screens that are on the outside of your windows can be removed from the outside.

Q. How often should I get my windows cleaned?
A. If you enjoy clean glass we recommend quarterly cleaning. With this interval, your windows should stay relatively clean and unspotted because they've been maintained. We offer window cleaning discounts for customers who maintain their windows on a regular basis. When we service your windows, we can discuss a personalized window cleaning program.

Q Who will be coming to my house?
A Mike will typically be at every job. All our employees are experienced and courteous.  All do their best to protect the interior of your home as well as the exterior and landscaping.

Q What about our pets?
A All pets should be confined or out of the house for their safety.

Q What does it mean to be an insured company?
A We are insured and carry a $1 million liability policy with Country Financial. A copy of our policy is availble to view on request.
General liability insurance protects the homeowner aganst any accidental damage on your premises and also insures for bodily injury. Hiring a window cleaning service that does not carrying insurance puts YOU the homeowner at risk. This is because if there were an injury on your premises, you could be held liable for allowing an uninsured contractor onto your property as your homeowners policy may not cover it!

Q How much does rain affect clean windows?
A Not as much as you may think. Once the windows have been cleaned, rain does not have much to cling to. The windows may spot a little but it will take a while for dirt and pollutants to build up again.

Q. Will the window washer wear shoe covers?
A. Out of respect for you and your home, our window washers will either remove their shoes or wear shoe covers.

Q. Do I really need to have my gutters cleaned?
A. We recommend that your gutters be cleaned at least twice a year especially if you have trees that are close to your house. We recommend cleaning in the spring and the fall. This can prevent rain from overflowing the top of your gutters and prevent standing water and debris in your gutters. Standing water and debris in your gutters can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes in the summer. In the winter standing water and debris can cause ice dams in your gutters which can cause damage to your gutters and or your house. Over flowing water can also make your windows that were just cleaned dirty. Regular maintenance cleaning of your gutters is the best way to prevent water damage to your roof line and or your foundation.

Q. Why should I call a professional window washing company instead of a maid service to clean my windows?
A. Most maid services use a product like “Windex” and paper towels which will not clean your windows, it will rub the dirt around which will create a static charge that will attract dirt and dust to your windows, but worst of all it can scratch the glass. Our window washers use only professional window washing tools and equipment.

Q. Do you offer service on the weekend?
A. Yes, we have Saturday appointments available.
